Martí Guixé no está de acuerdo en la imagen del diseñador que proyecta Philippe Starck (el diseñador cortesano por excelencia). En un breve pero brillante artículo dice lo siguiente:

"It was probably Philippe Starck – not as a designer, but as a perception of the media representation of the ('80s) designer – who restricted design to a pure decorative formalism and also limited its thematics."

"For many designers, during the last two decades this idealisation and simplification of the figure of the designer as Star has delayed the development of design for more than 15 years."

[...]

"Design is no longer simply sketching and putting into production a nice piece for people to buy and place in their apartments. Design must escape from matter and form and begin producing intelligent and interesting projects within the context of commercial purposes."
